Take 2

It's just hours before our second screening at 4:45 and I can't believe so much has happened! The film has been embraced by so many at the festival and outside. I want to take a moment and thank the students from local high schools that came to see a private screening of entre nos last Monday... In particular THANK YOU to Lisa Lucas and Mallory Jacobs at Tribeca for having the vision and taking the chance of bringing our work to a young audience. While we have seen the film with a primarily adult audience it was a blast watching it with these young eyes as they laughed and cringed (openly) at moments that pleasantly surprised us. Our young actors Sebastian and Laura had a lot to share about their experiences to their group peers.

The Vanity Fair party was amazing!!! As soon as we walked into the room, who was to my right but my all time favorite LARRY DAVID. The to the left, Bono, Rick Ruben, Kayne West, Spike Lee, Julie Taymor...the list goes on and on. It was a really amazing place to be.

Gloria, Joe, Michael and I drank good wine ate really good food and enjoyed the surreal moment of being in that room.

Since then we have gone to 2 parties and one movie premiere. I have moved on to only drinking water. I started off strong at VF but realized I have to be able to maintain until Saturday where I will LET LOOSE with the auguardiente!

The buzz on the film seems to be pretty good right now. All the filmmakers know about the film, we have really amazing distributors RSVP'd for our premiere and we have been on a few critics/bloggers must see list... so all in all we couldn't be in a better place.

Vanity Fair & water-proof mascara

Alright my people....THE FILM IS DONE!!!!!!!!!!!

We handed it off to Tribeca today just in time for the festival to avert cardiac arrest. They were very patient with us but we could hear the stress and concern in their voices whenever they asked about the film...but ya...it's done. Gloria and I watched it yesterday in the online room, color corrected, with final titles, with sound design and with final mix and needless to say at the end of the film we were both in tears. Each of us had our own reasons for the tears but we we were also connected to the amazing feeling of having completed a goal that at the start was so daunting it seemed impossible.

Now that the work is done the fun begins! Tonight Gloria and I are off to the Vanity Fair Party. I am really excited about going to fiesta tonight. Every time I mention it to anyone at the festival...they are like WOW, you're going to the VF party...that's amazing. I hear the guest list is VERY tight and very few filmmakers are able to attend....but here we go the ENTRE NOS crew...gonna get the party crackin!

I have a beautiful dress to wear tonight along with amazing jewelry that my girl Alison hooked me up with. I am wearing her jewelry through out the festival and it will be a hit..NO DOUBT. If you want to check out her stuff go to www.reverienyc.com

I hope to be able to write through out the festival as this will be the fun stuff..but looking at my schedule it seems like a very difficult task but I am promising myself I will try. All the work is done, the film, the shopping for my dresses, the jewelry, the make up (i bought water-proof mascara for the premiere as I am sure I am going to need it!), the tickets are almost sorted out..we are short 8 but I am sure we will work it out.

Paola y yo estamos por terminar lo que sera "la pelicula". La música esta compuesta, el diseño de sonido se finalizo hoy y el lunez esperamos tenerla lista para exibición. Eso es por el lado técnico, pero por el lado personal y sentimental, apenas comienza la cosa. Despues de tres años de escribir, producir y editar, en un par de dias se cumple algo que hasta ahora quizas era un sueño para las dos... y sentimos mucho orgullo el haber cumplido con esta tarea. El tema central de entre nos es la familia y su sacrificio. El solo poder contar este cuento es prueba sólida del sacrificio de nuestros padres por sacarnos adelante. Feliz el dia que le podamos ofrecer lo mismo a nuestros hijos. Otra razon para sentir orgullo es haber hecho la pelicula en español y sobre una familia Colombiana. Vivir y ser criado en los Estados Unidos y aun tener una connección con Colombia es un privilegio único. Este projecto también quizas nos permite compartir un pedazito de Colombia con todo el mundo.

El 25 de Abril celebramos el estreno en el festival de Tribeca en Nueva York - el cual quizas ya saben que los boletos se agotaron en dos de las tres funciones. !Un happy problema!

A dormir me voy... como siempre pido disculpa por la gramática, pero es de todo corazon!

with new eyes and ears...

Paola and I cannot count the many times we've seen the film... or gone over certain scenes, but these last few weeks we have literally seen the film as if for the first time... with fresh eyes and ears! Enter Steve our colorist, Coll our sound designer and Gil our composer and moments come alive like never before.

NY post says we are a must see film...so we MUST get it done!

How i am finding the time to write is beyond me....my hands hurt from typing so much, by back hurts from sitting on my computer all day and my phone is in perpetual dying mode...but here I am...grinding to get it all done in time.

gloria and i go up to woodstock for two days tomorrow to start working on initial sound stuff. The kids are coming up on Saturday to do some ADR. We are so close to that finish line I can see it...without my glasses, that how close we are :)

and at some moment I need to find time to figure out what I am going to wear for the premiere, I need to get a hair cut (cuz i am a complete mess at the moment) and I MUST MUST get a massage....

this blog is all over the place as its a reflection of how my mind is working these days...controlled chaos...and i LOVE IT!
